Why we added SpeedX to our carrier mix
Our published rate card has always passed discounted USPS, UPS, and FedEx rates through at cost — see the full breakdown on our 3PL pricing guide. SpeedX is a regional last-mile carrier we route eligible parcels through alongside those, on lanes where it beats the legacy options on price. It is not a separate service, a new fee, or a replacement for our fulfillment rate — it is simply a cheaper way to get the same package delivered, and we pass that saving straight to you.
Eligibility runs by lane and destination ZIP, not by account or plan: on any given label, our system routes to whichever eligible carrier — SpeedX, USPS, UPS, or FedEx — is cheapest for that specific package and destination. You never have to ask for it or configure anything.
The rate comparison
Based on our current SpeedX-eligible label volume, here is what the same package costs to ship through legacy national carrier rates versus SpeedX.
| Carrier option | Typical cost per label | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Legacy national carrier (standard published rates) | $7.00–$8.00 | What most sellers pay outside a 3PL's negotiated rates |
| SpeedX, routed via KAK | ~$4.75 average | Eligible lanes only; passed through at cost, no markup |
| Typical savings | 32–41% lower | Up to 60% lower on select lanes |
Carriers bill on dimensional weight, and SpeedX coverage varies by destination ZIP, so your real per-label number depends on your zones, weights, and box dimensions. Send us your SKUs for real numbers within 24 hours.
What the savings actually add up to
Using the midpoint of the legacy range ($7.50) against our $4.75 SpeedX average — a 36.7% reduction, in the middle of our stated 32–41% range — here is what that means at different order volumes. These are shipping-cost savings only, on top of whatever your KAK fulfillment fees already are.
| Monthly orders | Legacy shipping cost | SpeedX shipping cost | Monthly savings | Annual savings |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 100 orders | $750 | $475 | $275 | $3,300 |
| 300 orders | $2,250 | $1,425 | $825 | $9,900 |
| 1,000 orders | $7,500 | $4,750 | $2,750 | $33,000 |

Who this matters most for
Shipping is usually the single largest line on a DTC or FBM invoice — larger than pick-pack-ship, storage, and receiving combined for most light-parcel sellers. The savings here compound fastest for:
- High-volume FBM and DTC sellers on Shopify, TikTok Shop, Walmart, eBay, or other marketplaces, where postage is charged per order.
- Lightweight apparel, beauty, and accessories brands, where the shipping label is often a bigger cost than the product's pick-and-pack fee.
- Sellers currently shipping through a carrier's own retail or standard published rates instead of a negotiated 3PL rate.
This runs alongside our standard rate card, not instead of it — see the full itemized breakdown on pricing or the printable price list.
