The problem a US returns address solves

Two kinds of sellers write to us about returns, and they describe the same wound from different sides.

The first ships US orders from abroad. A UK womenswear brand told us they would keep fulfilling new orders from the UK for now — what they needed was returned items "received and processed locally, with suitable returned stock then held and used to fulfil new US orders, rather than being shipped back to the UK." Every garment that recrosses the Atlantic pays postage twice and duty once to end up where it started. At apparel return rates, that quietly eats the margin of the orders that didn't come back.

The second sells on marketplaces that demand a domestic returns address. Walmart Marketplace and eBay both expect US buyers to return to a US location — an overseas return address means slower cases, unhappier buyers, and defect metrics you can't afford. One overseas electronics seller needed exactly that: a physical US return center for low-volume Walmart and eBay returns, with a signed agreement to show the marketplace.

Both get the same machine: our Houston warehouse becomes your returns address, every return is opened, inspected, and graded within our published process, sellable stock goes back on the shelf as live US inventory, and — when you want it — that inventory fulfills your next US orders from here at standard rates. The loop closes inside one building.

What $1.50 per return actually includes

The fee question we get from every careful brand is not "how much" — it is "what exactly does that include, and what will I be billed on top?" Here is the whole anatomy:

StepWhat happensIncluded in $1.50?
ReceiveReturn parcel accepted at the dock, logged against your account the day it arrivesYes
MatchParcel tied to the original order or RMA reference so nothing becomes mystery stockYes
Open & inspectItem unpacked and visually inspected against your criteriaYes
GradeSellable, or held for your decision — your rules, applied consistentlyYes
RestockSellable units returned to the shelf; your inventory count updates in the WMSYes
Storage of returned stockHeld as normal inventory — $25/pallet monthly, or bins at $3.50 and shelves at $7.50 for smaller volumesStandard storage rates
Photo documentationPer-return photo sets on request — condition evidence for claims and disputesCustom-quoted in writing
Re-fulfillmentRestocked unit ships to the next US customerStandard $2.00/order rate

No separate restocking fee, no separate disposal line for routine cases, no inspection charged as its own event. If a return needs work beyond this — repackaging into fresh retail presentation, relabeling, testing beyond a visual check — we quote that in writing before doing it, never on the invoice after.

Inspection by category: what "checked" means here

"Inspection included" is only worth what the inspection actually looks for. The honest answer is that it differs by product, so here is what our team checks, by the categories we process most:

Apparel and accessories. Signs of wear or washing, stains, odor, damage, and whether tags and hygiene strips are still attached — the checklist that decides if a garment is genuinely resellable or headed for your seconds pile. A UK brand asked us precisely how grading works for fashion before committing; this list is the answer we gave them.

Electronics and gadgets. Visual condition, completeness — cables, chargers, manuals, retail box — and, where it can be done safely at the bench, a power-on check. What we do not do is pretend to be a test lab: functional testing beyond power-on is custom scope, agreed in writing.

High-value single items. For cameras, collectibles, and items worth hundreds per unit, we run a photo protocol on request — a documented set of condition photos per return, so a $900 item's dispute never comes down to memory. One cross-border used-camera seller made this protocol part of their standard operating procedure with us.

Supplements and consumables. Sealed-versus-opened is the whole game: seals intact and packaging clean goes back to the shelf; opened product is quarantined for your decision. Lot and expiry tracking are available for brands that need them.

Your grading rules become the SOP. Tell us what "sellable" means for your brand — or borrow our defaults — and every return is graded the same way on day 400 as on day 4.

The restock-and-resell loop, with real math

Here is the model that made a UK brand's CFO stop treating US returns as a write-off. Say you ship US orders from Europe and take back 300 returns a month:

  • 300 returns × $1.50 = $450/month for receiving, inspection, grading, and restocking.
  • Suppose 70% grade sellable — around 210 units a month becoming live US inventory instead of transatlantic freight.
  • Those units fulfill your next US orders from Houston at $2.00 + materials — orders that ship in days, not weeks, with domestic postage instead of international.
  • What you stop paying is the real number: return shipping across an ocean, duty on your own goods coming home, and the weeks of dead time before an item can earn again.

The loop compounds: as returned stock accumulates here, a growing share of your US demand is served domestically — several of our international clients used exactly this pattern as their soft landing into full US fulfillment, letting returns seed the US inventory pool before committing a bulk shipment.

A returns address marketplaces will accept

For Walmart Marketplace and eBay sellers, the address is only half the requirement — the marketplace wants evidence behind it. So the paperwork is part of the service:

  • A signed service agreement naming your business and confirming returns are received and processed at our facility: 6117 Long Dr, Houston, TX 77087.
  • A Walmart authorization letter prepared with your registered business name, address, and authorized signatory exactly as your seller account shows them.
  • Works for foreign companies and individual sellers alike — no US entity needed, as covered in our international seller playbook.

Returns volume from 100 units a month is normal here; Q4 spikes are absorbed without renegotiation because the rate is per return, not per contract tier.

What returns service is not — read before you buy anywhere

A brand once sent us a beautifully complete wish list: monitor our returns inbox, verify each customer's return window, check whether exchange postage was paid, run the customer-service conversation on failed deliveries. It deserved a straight answer, and the straight answer is the boundary of what a warehouse should sell you:

  • We are the physical layer: receiving, matching, inspection, grading, restocking, evidence, and re-shipment. That layer we guarantee.
  • Return authorization is policy, and policy is yours: deciding who may return, refund adjudication, and customer conversations live in your helpdesk. Where a workflow needs us to apply your rules physically — swap plastic packaging for cloth before reshipping, enforce "no tags, no restock" — we build it into the SOP and quote any extra handling in writing.
  • Anything ambiguous gets quoted before, not billed after. If a request lands outside the $1.50 anatomy above, you hear a number first. That rule has no exceptions, because surprise reverse-logistics fees are exactly the industry habit this page exists to end.

If you want the full picture of forward fulfillment costs to pair with this, our all-in cost breakdown walks a real order and a real month line by line.

US returns processing FAQ

What does the $1.50 returns fee include?
Receiving the parcel, matching it to the order or RMA, opening, visual inspection against your criteria, grading, restocking sellable units, and the WMS inventory update. No separate restocking or inspection line.
Can you be my returns address for Walmart Marketplace or eBay?
Yes — with a signed service agreement and, for Walmart, an authorization letter prepared with your registered business details. Your returns address becomes 6117 Long Dr, Houston, TX 77087.
Can returned items be resold to new customers instead of shipped back to me?
Yes — that loop is the point. Sellable returns go back on the shelf as live US inventory and fulfill your next orders at the standard $2.00 per order rate. Nothing has to recross an ocean.
How do you inspect apparel returns?
Wear and washing signs, stains, odor, damage, and tags and hygiene strips present — graded sellable or held for your decision, by your rules.
Do you inspect electronics returns?
Visually, for completeness and condition, with a safe power-on check where applicable. Deeper functional testing is custom scope, quoted in writing first.
Can I get photos of each return?
Yes — per-return photo documentation is available on request and custom-quoted. High-value sellers use it as standard evidence for claims and disputes.
What does storing returned stock cost?
Standard storage: $25 per pallet monthly, with bins at $3.50 and shelves at $7.50 for smaller volumes — useful early, when returned stock builds gradually.
Is there a minimum returns volume?
No. Sellers start from a handful of returns a month; around 100 a month is typical for overseas marketplace sellers, and Q4 spikes just bill at the same per-return rate.
Do you handle the customer service side of returns?
No — refund decisions and customer conversations stay in your helpdesk, where they belong. We execute the physical layer and your written rules, and quote anything beyond it before doing it.
